Colonialism has transformative impact on human history and led to the annihilation of entire peoples, exploitation of resources and extermination of cultural traditions. This course explores how colonialism works as a project of cultural domination with race/racism as its underlying motivating assumption. Examples may be drawn from but not limited to Asia, Africa, Americas, Australia and Middle East, to focus on the policies, legislation and technologies used by the colonial powers to dispossess, displace, manage and restrict Indigenous peoples.
