Immigration Advising

Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) are available to help with questions related to:

• Study Permits (SP)
• Work eligibility as an international student
• Maintaining legal student status in Canada
• Traveling or taking a leave while studying
• Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP)

This service is only available to currently enrolled CapU students with an active CapU student ID. Before meeting with an immigration advisor, please review the International Student Welcome Guide on eLearn and Frequently Asked Questions for International Students, as many common questions are already answered there.

One-on-one Immigration Advising

Immigration advising is available most weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sessions are offered in person or virtually via Zoom or phone, depending on the daily schedule.

All sessions are drop-in and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check the Advising Schedule below for available sessions each day.

The advising registration window opens 15 minutes before each session and closes 15 minutes before the session ends. Registration may close earlier if we reach capacity. If so, please join the next available session.

How to Join:

• In Person:
  • Visit the Centre for International Experience (CIE), Library Building, Room LB127 during the advising registration window.
  • Scan the QR code at the office and sign in with your CapU student ID and phone number.
• Zoom:
  • Use the Zoom Registration link below during the registration window and sign in with your CapU student ID and phone number.
  • You will receive the Zoom link by text and email. Connect as soon as you receive the link and set your display name to your first and last name.
  • You will be placed in a waiting room and admitted by an advisor in the order of check-in.
