This course provides an overview of different types of investments and uses theoretical, fundamental, and technical techniques to build a diversified portfolio that balances risk and return. The main topics include investment theory, individual security analysis, behavioural finance, capital markets, pooled investment funds, fixed income securities, equities, and derivatives. A project requiring stock simulation software will enable students to implement investment strategies and analysis, and apply investment decision-making and performance assessment tools.
Prerequisites
30 credits of 100-level or higher coursework including BFIN 306; OR CMNS 305 and [NABU 320 or NABU 340]
Course Notes
BFIN 321 is equivalent to BFIN 441. Duplicate credit will not be granted for this course and BFIN 441.
