COVID-19 Emergency Financial Assistance

Your university education is a big investment, and you may need help figuring out your finances. We have the tools, resources and advice on budgeting — as well as information about financial aid and awards — to help you plan and pay for all the costs of a post-secondary education.

Planning your financing

For an idea of what you’ll pay to study at CapU, try our Tuition & Fees Estimator or view the program costs in our programs and courses. You can even figure out how much textbooks might cost through our bookstore’s website.

Next, consider how much it will cost to live in Vancouver. If you’re applying to live in CapU Residence, check out the costs for residence and meal plans. If you're going to live off campus, you'll also need to think about rent, groceries, and utilities. And don’t forget to allow for personal expenses, such as cell phone bills and entertainment.

Scholarships, bursaries and awards

If you’re a new student to CapU, you can apply for entrance scholarships, bursaries and awards to help pay some of your costs. If you’re a returning or continuing student at CapU, you can also apply for a range of awards and scholarships.

Loans and grants

If you’re a full- or part-time student and a Canadian resident, you may qualify for loans or grants from the government to help pay for your education at CapU. Find all the information on our Student Loans & Grants page. 

Student line of credit 

One other option you could explore is taking out a student line of credit through a bank or credit union. Talk to your bank or credit union to see if you qualify for a student line of credit or other financing options.

Funding for youth who've aged out of care

If you’re between 19 and 26 and were in government care in B.C., you could qualify for grants from the province and other funding sources to help cover the costs of your education.

We offer workshops each term on topics like money management, understanding student loans and how to apply for awards. We also offer appointments where you can connect with a financial aid advisor to discuss specific questions and issues. Our Financial Aid & Awards advisors are here to support you during these extraordinary and difficult times. While we are not offering in-person advising appointments at the moment, we can assist you by phone or online providing you with the advice and support you need.

If you would like to book a financial aid advising appointment, please check the advising schedule below and send an email from myCapU student account to with the reason for your request, preferred type of appointment, date and time. One of our advisors will contact you shortly for confirmation.
