In 2021, CapU became the first partner of the Global Sustainability Short Film Alliance. The alliance was founded by VIA University College’s VIA Film & Transmedia in Aarhus, Denmark, CapU’s international exchange partner, and Design Factory International in Hamburg, Germany.

Further collaborations between VIA, CapU International, and the School of Motion Picture Arts inspired the launch of CapU’s first virtual exchange: Global Coproduction Film Project 2021: Arms Across the Atlantic in February 2021.

Annual symposium and screening

Coming up on March 30, 2023 is the 2nd Annual Global Sustainability Short Film Alliance: Symposium and Screening, organized and hosted by CapU’s School of Motion Picture Arts and Centre for International Experience.

The symposium builds on the first Global Sustainability Short Film Alliance: Symposium and Screening, which CapU hosted on March 29, 2022, also at the state-of-the-art BOSA Centre for Film and Animation and via a live broadcast.

Global Coproduction Film Project 2024

Now accepting expressions of interest for the Global Coproduction Film Project 2024. Inviting CapU and VIA film students to collaborate on sustainability-themed short film projects. The films will be submitted for screening through Global Sustainability Short Film Alliance events and selected film festivals.

Complete the form below and we will add you to our email list — you’ll be the first to know when Global Coproduction Film Project 2024 is confirmed to launch.

This virtual global coproduction is open to third-and fourth-year Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts Degree students at CapU and fourth-and sixth-semester VIA Film and Transmedia students at VIA University College.

February: Students’ expressions of interest are reviewed and interested students are invited to a student/faculty meet and greet. Creative teams are formed in cross-Atlantic groups of two students per team minimum (e.g. 1 CapU and 1 VIA student). Students then work together on their proposal and prepare to pitch to faculty who provide continuous guidance and mentorship.

February – May: Approved projects move through pre-production, production and post-production.

June: Project delivery and review of submissions. Screenings of selected submissions at the Global Sustainability Short Film Alliance.
