Scott Smith and the Midnight Riders: A celebration of the music of the Allman Brothers;

Scott Smith and The Midnight Riders is a celebration of the music of the Allman Brothers, the groundbreaking southern rock group that combined blues, country and jazz to create one of the most distinctive sounds in rock and created a diverse body of work that includes such classic songs as “Ramblin’ Man,” “Whipping Post,” “Statesboro Blues,” “Midnight Rider,” “Jessica” and “Blue Sky.”

Scott Smith has been one of the key guitar guitar players in Vancouver’s blues and roots rock scenes for a couple decades now, playing with local rockers like Barney Bentall and Rich Hope as well as leading his own bands Terminal Station and Just A Season. With The Midnight Riders, Smith has put together a group with the same instrumental lineup as the late ‘60s Allman Brothers group: two lead guitarists (Emmett Jerome and Smith), organ (Darryl Havers), bass (Jeremy Holmes), and two drummers (Geoff Hicks and Liam MacDonald). Expect to hear lots of slide guitar, psychedelic jams, impassioned vocals and twin guitarmonies.

Presented in partnership with Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
