Future Outgoing Study Abroad Students (Fall 2020 – Summer 2021)

Yes! We encourage all interested current CapU students (domestic and international) to explore studying abroad in one of 20+ destinations around the world and apply online by September 15, 2020.

At present, we are conducting online interviews via MS Teams. For deadlines, see Full-Term Exchange. Please note that final decisions on study abroad program acceptances will be affected by any future Global Affairs Canada restrictions with respect to COVID-19.

Any changes related to processing your application will be noted on Study Abroad and communicated directly to all study abroad applicants via studyabroad@capilanou.ca.

Yes. Normally, the $375 study abroad fee is an administrative fee and is non-refundable, as stated in your study abroad nomination acceptance letter. However, due to the current exceptional circumstances, if you are unable to depart in the fall 2020 or spring 2021 or summer 2021 terms as a result of COVID-19, this fee will be refunded to you in full.

Spring 2020 Vietnam/Cambodia Field School Participants

Due to COVID-19, the in-person field trip component of the Vietnam and Cambodia Field School has been transformed into the Virtual Sapa Tour. Guided by two CapU instructors, as a Virtual Sapa Tour student participant, you now have the opportunity to engaging in a global learning, virtually, by means of connecting with CapU’s field school correspondents in Vietnam.

Drawing from this experience, you will work on timely topics relevant to the locals in the villages, which were on the original itinerary. The Virtual Sapa Tour is taking place during the Summer Session II, starting on July 6, 2020 and ending on August 20, 2020.

Because the field trip portion of your field school has been cancelled, you are responsible to return the One World Scholarship award or any other awards that you received specifically for the Vietnam Cambodia Field School 2020. This is an unfortunate consequence of not being able to proceed with the physical field trip portion of your field school, due to COVID-19.

If you have any further questions about this or future field schools, please email studyabroad@capilanou.ca

Disney International Program 2020

The Disney International Program 2020 has been cancelled. Currently, we are looking at a possibility of deferring the program to the January 2021 or February 2021 start, depending on students’ availability and COVID-19 response and travel safety restrictions. While UCR confirmed deferring all accepted 2020 participants to the next possible DIP intake, Disney will also need to confirm whether or not a new application and interview will be required for the positions originally confirmed. You can expect to receive more details on this directly from studyabroad@capilanou.ca.
