All of CapU's Study Abroad Programs are subject to safe and secure travel and living conditions. These are determined by global and host country health and travel conditions, Government of Canada travel advisories, and relevant Capilano University policies. Our decision to move ahead with, or cancel a study abroad program is dependent upon academic and financial impacts and resources such as:

Currently Accepted Outgoing Study Abroad Students (Spring 2022)

Spring 2022 applications are now closed. If you’ve already been accepted for a Spring 2022 full term exchange, you are strongly advised not to arrange for your flights, accommodation and/or make any arrangements that have any financial impact on you without first notifying studyabroad@capilanou.ca and receiving a clear and official email confirmation from studyabroad@capilanou.ca that your departure and travel is safe, secure and possible.

The Study Abroad Team will provide further updates closer to the end of October 2021.

  • Create a back-up plan of courses you would take at CapU if you were not going abroad. You will be notified if your Spring 2022 exchange is not going ahead due to COVID-19 or other travel restrictions before the CapU course registration period. Note: Spring 2022 registration begins on November 22, 2021.
  • Consider another destination. Email studyabroad@capilanou.ca to assess if this is feasible for you and determine the next steps.

  • Flight, accommodation, visa, health insurance or other arrangements you made that have any financial impact on you. Such expenses are solely your personal responsibility and will not be reimbursed by CapU.
  • Your host institution’s application deadlines and any non-refundable fee charges and/or deposits.
  • Your ability to pursue a study abroad program again in the future. How far are you in your studies?

Future Outgoing Study Abroad Students

(Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023)

Yes, we are currently accepting study abroad applications for Sapporo, Japan (Hokkaido College of Art and Design). This Summer 2022 full term exchange is open to Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication (IDEA) students. We encourage all interested students to apply online.

At present, we are conducting online interviews via MS Teams or Zoom. Any changes related to processing your application will be noted on Study Abroad and communicated directly to all study abroad applicants from studyabroad@capilanou.ca.

Yes. Normally, you would pay the $375 study abroad administrative fee in order to accept your study abroad nomination. However, if you are unable to depart in the Fall 2021 or Spring/Summer 2022 terms, due to COVID-19, this fee will be refunded to you in full. It is yet to be announced if this fee will be refundable for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 programs.

Disney International Program

The Disney International Program (DIP) 2021 did not run in response to COVID-19. Currently, the University of California Riverside is looking at options for 2022.
