Gord Grdina NYC Quartet
A Vancouver local legend and CapU alumnus, Gord Grdina is well on his way to becoming one of Canada’s most in-demand and prolific jazz artists.

Gord Grdina has been in so many bands, duos, recording gigs, and sideman projects that The Georgia Straight says a flowchart of his musical activities would establish degrees-of-separation connections between everyone from Miles Davis to Dan Mangan. This Vancouver local legend is a Juno award-winning guitarist and oud virtuoso, and also a Capilano University alumnus. He fell in love with the oud, a Middle-Eastern lute, and developed a unique sound evolving from fusing jazz with classical Persian music. His New York Quartet, which released its latest album, Inroads, in 2017, is an adventurous, avant-garde experience mixing improvisational jazz with a heavier, darker electric sound.
