Bio

Bruno Follmer (PhD, University of Victoria, 2022) completed a PhD in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria in 2022. During his PhD, Follmer investigated the causes and effects of chronic exposure to head impacts in combat sports athletes.

He has a scientific background as an author of a book, book chapters, and over 20 scientific manuscripts, as well as a reviewer for international journals.

Originally from Brazil, Follmer completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a Master of Science degree in Biodynamics of Human Movement before moving to Canada in 2018. As an instructor, he has been teaching undergraduate courses since 2016.

Before that, Follmer worked for over 10 years as a personal trainer for the general population and as a strength and conditioning coach for athletes.

Teaching is a never-ending learning process. I learn with every student that I have because I try my best to reach every learner in my classroom. I am passionate about the teaching and learning process.

I strive to convey reliable information in a way that is accessible to my students. Active learning strategies are the foundation of my teaching style.

I have experience teaching both Exercise Science and Health Promotion courses. My students will receive relevant content and engage in different activities in the classroom to understand the material and retain information.
