Build the skills to help people live better in the Bachelor of Kinesiology program at Capilano University.
In the program, you'll expand your expertise in the hands-on applications of kinesiology.
Courses include physiology, biomechanics, active health, human behavior, anatomy, exercise psychology, leadership and health policy.
As you progress into the third and fourth years of the program, you'll gain knowledge of research techniques, data analysis, professional ethics and field studies before moving into more focused training in your chosen specialty.
Before you graduate, you’ll take part in career and professional preparation courses, field studies and a capstone course ensuring you’ll be ready to start working to make your community healthier as soon as you finish your degree.
- Combine anatomical, physiological, and health knowledge to demonstrate competence and practical skills in health, clinical, or rehabilitation settings.
- Apply effective networking practices to develop industry connections and build professional relationships in the fields of health and kinesiology.
- Assess, design, and implement prevention and rehabilitation programs as they relate to healthy living and chronic disease inclusive of exercise management in public and private settings.
- Proficiently utilize kinesiology specific technology in research, therapy, clinical or public health settings.
- Apply knowledge to make decisions based on research, best practices, and emerging health information.
- Create culturally safe practices and demonstrate humility and integrity as they relate to the prevention of ill health, and the rehabilitation of all peoples.
Admission Requirements
English language requirements
English is the language of instruction at CapU. All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.
If English is not your first language or you’ve received your education in a language other than English, you must meet our English Language Requirements.
Basic requirements
- High school graduation
- A minimum grade point average of 2.0 (60%) calculated on English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 and two academic Grade 12 courses, and
- A minimum C in Math 11 (Principles of Math or Foundations of Math) or pass in Pre-calculus 11, and
- A pass in Biology 12 or Anatomy and Physiology 12

Applications are reviewed and seat offers are made regularly throughout the application period until the program is full.
Admission into the Kinesiology program is competitive - meeting the above minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The competitiveness of an application is based on GPA and the letter of interest.

Students pursuing a baccalaureate degree must meet Cap Core graduation requirements in addition to their program requirements.
Students specialize by completing 12 upper-level credits in one of the following areas:

-Exercise Science Concentration: KINE 317, KINE 320, KINE 375, KINE 390
