On Tuesday, June 11 the Board of Governors approved the 2013/2014 budget for Capilano University. While the approved budget includes program and section suspensions in a number of areas, we will continue to provide a wide range of degrees and diplomas to students in all of our five faculties:

  • Faculty of Arts & Sciences
  • Faculty of Business & Professional Studies
  • Faculty of Fine & Applied Arts
  • Faculty of Education, Health & Human Development
  • Faculty of Global & Community Studies

However, budget cutbacks will have an impact on programming on all faculties and locations.

North Vancouver Campus

Suspension of admission (for Fall 2013/14 academic year)

  • Advanced Ceramics courses
  • Art Institute certificate
  • Applied Business
    • Medical Assistant certificate
    • Online certificates with BCCampus
     
  • Guided Imagery & Music post baccalaureate certificate
  • Interactive Design diploma
  • Studio Art diploma
  • Textile Arts diploma

Note: The second year of any two-year program will continue to be offered in the 2013/14 academic year. We recognize our obligation to give students the opportunity to complete programs in which they are currently enrolled.

Suspension of offerings (for Fall 2013/14 academic year)

  • Commerce
  • Computing Science
  • CultureNet
  • Geology
  • German
  • Kinesiology (Human Kinetics will not be affected)

Suspension of short & summer courses

  • Foundations in Illustration & Design certificate (The IDEA program will not be affected)
  • Computer Animation & Visual Effects citation
  • Fundamental Grip Work for Digital Imaging & Film

Reduction in general course offerings (for Fall 2013/14 academic year)

  • Arts & Sciences

Offered in alternate years

  • Access to Work
  • Conducting Certificate

Squamish Campus

  • Suspension of Adult Basic Education (ABE) offerings – (ABE will continue to be offered at the North Vancouver and Sunshine Coast campuses)
  • Adjustment in community development and outreach initiatives

Sunshine Coast Campus

  • Reduction in Arts and Sciences general course offerings
