New Student Orientation Events

Who should attend: All new international students beginning their studies in Summer 2026 (attendance is mandatory).
As a new CapU international student, you can expect an informative session to get you started off right! Be introduced to the campus and important resources and learn all the tips you need to succeed throughout your CapU journey.

It's a fun, low-pressure space to connect with other students through games and activities; no awkward small talk is required. There'll be free food, prizes to win and lots of chances to meet people. Did you know that mastering CapU's academic standards could save you from accidentally slipping into cheating or plagiarism? Get the inside scoop at our online session, "The Cheat Code to Not Cheat."

As a new international student, you'll be navigating a lot of new information. The International Student Essentials session will help you gain clarity on key topics like health insurance, immigration, transit, and academics. Drop by to connect in-person with our Transition Advisors and get the answers you need!
Self-Directed Online Modules
This is a self-paced online module designed for new CapU students so that you can become familiar with CapU before the term begins. Here, you'll be introduced to practical tips to support your transition into university learn how to navigate campus, where to find academic, well-being and student support services and how to get involved in campus life.
Note: This online module is not a substitute for attending any of the New Student Orientation sessions but is a great resource to refer to before and after you begin at CapU.
As a campus community, we aim to create an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported. This course will introduce you to the issue of sexual violence and the steps we each can take to effectively prevent and respond to sexual violence.
Throughout your time at Capilano University, you will be expected to do your academic work in a way that aligns with the university's standards of academic integrity. Violations of these standards are taken very seriously and can have wide-reaching consequences for you.
This module is designed to help you learn about academic integrity as it is interpreted at Capilano University and about one of the most common integrity violations in particular: plagiarism.
New to CapU Series
Calling all new students starting in May! Join the Student Life team and transition leaders on the first four Thursdays of the semester during the universal lunch hour (11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.) for the New to CapU Series.
Each week focuses on a different part of starting at CapU, from campus resources, to getting involved, well-being and academic success. Come by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Enjoy light refreshments, (while they last), campus resources, and opportunities to connect.
