Your Early Support (YES) provides guidance, navigation and resources to help you confidently manage personal and academic obstacles.
At CapU, we want to see you thrive. We also understand that students may have experiences at university that challenge their mental health, well-being and academic success.

You're not alone. We're here - and we care
YES is the first stop for CapU students who need help navigating to the right services and resources to manage personal and academic obstacles with confidence – and for faculty and staff members looking for intervention, outreach and support on behalf of their students.
Much like a directory referral service, YES team members help students identify where to go and how to access services and resources on and off campus for challenges ranging from food security and mental health to housing. They also offer information and guidance on University policies, procedures and processes.
When you reach out to YES you will be connected to Student Support Advisors at Student Affairs who can help you access many supportive resources both on and off campus.
Common reasons to connect with YES
- Academic and learning challenges in a course or program
- Well-being and mental health concerns
- Other life challenges affecting your success at CapU, such as food, housing or financial insecurity, legal issues, social isolation, child care, hospitalization, crisis situations and more.
YES provides
- Guidance and short-term support to help you navigate and access services and resources here at CapU or in your community.
- Support liaising with instructors in certain situations (like if you’re in the hospital, or if you’re overwhelmed and need help reconnecting with an instructor).
- Advice on how to connect directly with your instructors or other departments to explore your academic options.
- Information about options during unexpected crisis situations such as extenuating withdrawals or emergency financial supports.
