Tord Gustavsen Trio
Pianist’s Scandinavian band performs impressionistic jazz inspired by blues, gospel and folk.
The Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen is on a constant search for a fresh and honest beauty in music. He strives to deliver a holy trinity of emotional intensity, elegance, and mediative musical experience. Tord has released ten albums under his own name in trio, quartet and quintet formats.
For this concert in the magnificent Christ Church Cathedral, Tord will perform with his trio, including Jarle Vespestad and bassist/electronics manipulator Steiner Raknes. They just released the sublime record Seeing, which brims with innovative approaches to sound and technique while creating intricately textured improvisations and understated melodic hooks.
“Spiritual depth and intimacy ... also moments when the music felt more rock-centered, exhibiting great grooves. It was a flawless concert, full of beautiful experiences.” JazzTrail
