Bio
Jo-Anne Burleigh (MA, Education, Community Studies) is of Canadian heritage and was raised primarily in North Vancouver on the territories of the Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil Waututh Nations.
Her experiences are varied with a common theme of working with diverse populations in health, sport, recreation, education and resonate with her core values of connection, mindfulness and gratitude.
She worked in Public Health with Vancouver Coastal Health for 27 years as a Recreation Therapist and Active Living Coordinator.
She also worked as a sessional instructor at UBC for three years in the Kinesiology Department. She is currently semi-retired and has been working part-time at CapU in the Kinesiology Department since 2021.
As a facilitator, I aim to promote and enhance personal growth through experiential and collaborative learning. I believe shared learning experiences provide an environment for personal discovery and transformation while creating a platform for social change.
I am passionate about learning and facilitating an environment that creates connections in the learning process. My leadership skills are grounded in experience and founded on strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and a genuine willingness to listen, understand and adapt.
