Your journey starts now – and we're here to support every step. CapU's Global Engagement team is dedicated to making your short-term study abroad experience smooth, exciting and enriching – from your application to your farewell.
As a Visiting International Student (VISP), you'll have access to tailored supports that help you settle in, succeed in class and explore life in beautiful British Columbia. Here's what's included:
Your Hi-Five Supports
- Arrival Preparation Session: Held about two months before your arrival, this session helps you get ready for life at CapU and in Canada.
- Orientation Session: Two weeks before classes start, we'll walk you through everything from registration to finding your way around campus.
- Study Abroad Ambassador (Buddy) Program: Meet your Study Abroad Ambassador on Welcome Day! Our Ambassadors are friendly CapU students who've studied abroad themselves. They'll help you feel at home and share what it's like to live and study on our campuses.
- Mid-Semester Cultural Social: Take a break from class to connect with fellow VISP students through a fun, cultural social event hosted by our Ambassadors.
- Farewell Cultural Social: Reflect on your time at CapU and celebrate your achievements before heading home.
Tip: Work with your home institution in advance to ensure your CapU credits will transfer back – we recommend confirming this before registering for courses or arriving in Canada.
Each of these sessions and supports will be emailed to you directly from visp@capilanou.ca. For additional academic dates, visit Academic Schedule and Important Dates.
