“An entrance award not only helped me financially, but it ignited my feelings of self-worth. Knowing that I am worthy of an entrance award makes me feel great about the outlook of my university career and my future.”
– Giano Chirico

The President's Entrance Award is an opportunity to uphold the momentum and legacy of Capilano University's former President Paul Dangerfield.

Named after Paul to honour the leadership and vision that guided the University through global crisis, impactful strategic planning and tremendous growth, the award offers students who enter CapU a chance to embrace it as a space to surpass their dreams.

It is another milestone for Capilano University: the first donor award surpassing $1 million.

As the most significant donor-endowed award at CapU, the President's Entrance Award will support both students and the University by annually adapting its selection criteria to align with Capilano University's top priorities.

This award will enable CapU to support students whose goals follow the path laid out by Paul.

The power of entrance awards

Entrance awards are a potent tool for both students and institutions. The transition from secondary to post-secondary student is a complicated time fraught with financial pressures and mental stress.

As an introduction to university, entrance awards boost student confidence and motivate them to achieve academic excellence. Recipients also share that awards feel like a sign that the university is a supportive partner in their education and values their greater well-being.

For CapU, entrance awards help attract top talent and support a diverse student body.
