This class explores intersections between sex, gender, and drugs from an historical perspective, placing them in their proper historical context. While exact subject matter will vary from semester to semester, including the course’s geographical and temporal focus, topics may include: social, political, or cultural perspectives on sex and drugs; historical geographies of sex and drugs; questions of contraception; and the portrayal of sex in drugs within various historical media.

Prerequisites: 45 credits of 100-level or higher coursework
