This course in Literary Publishing will be the first of a two-term suite of classes focusing on the creation and production of a print and online publication, from concept to design to publication to launch. This studio-style class will provide opportunities for students to fill multiple roles in literary publishing—in publicity, acquisitions, editorial and event planning. Assignments will reflect the multiple roles on a production team, including marketing, design, writing and editing. Following completion of ENGL 496, students are expected to take ENGL 497 Literary Publishing II in the subsequent semester.
Prerequisites: 45 credits of 100-level or higher coursework including ENGL 190 or ENGL 191 and one of ENGL 290, 291, 293, 296 or 297
Notes:
- ENGL 496 is an approved Culture and Creative Expression course for Cap Core requirements. ENGL 496 is an approved Experiential course for Cap Core requirements.
- ENGL 496 along with ENGL 497 is equivalent to ENGL 396. Duplicate credit will not be granted for this course and ENGL 396.
