This course explores the deep roots of humanity across Africa. Students will learn about archaeological topics ranging from the origins of human biological and cultural diversity to the innovations of complex social networks. The course uses a decolonial lens to focus on African scholarship and students will critically reflect on how narratives of the human past impact discourses about Africa today. This course is ideal for those interested in Africa, science, archaeology, or interdisciplinary studies.
