This course takes a historical and cultural perspective to examine children and young people's relationship with media. Students will engage with critical debates and media studies research (qualitative and quantitative) regarding the role that media (toys, books, comics, film, TV, digital media e.g. videogames and social media) have played in creating the growing field of youth media culture.

Prerequisites: 30 credits of 100-level or higher coursework

  • CMNS 358 is an approved Self and Society course for Cap Core requirements.
