Bio

Vivien Anayian (BSE, Georgian Technical University, 1995) has a background in computer science and over 20 years of experience in the field.

Her career path has taken her from working as a front-end developer, to teaching web design and programming at various colleges and universities for a number of years, including 9 years at CapU's Interactive Design program, to running her own creative agency to finally venture into diverse areas of design she is most passionate about, to eventually transforming into a user interface and experience designer. Anayian is fascinated by the power of great design, user-centred at its core, that delivers creative problem solving, intuitive experience and scalable solutions.

Always happy to share her knowledge and experience, she has written extensively on all things design and co-authored a chapter on Web Typography, for one of the earlier volumes of the Smashing Magazine book.

In the last three years, Anayian has been inspiring high school students to learn the secrets behind building mobile applications as a design mentor for the Game Of Apps program.

Being a life-long learner myself, I love sharing my knowledge and experience with others. I have taught web design and programming to university and college students as I was learning and practicing my craft. Twenty years later, I'm still teaching.

The more questions I receive from my students, the deeper I dig into what makes design great, how to debug an application, how to translate business requirements into creative solutions while thinking as a designer to build empathetic user experience.

I previously taught at Capilano University in the Interactive Design program. I'm happy to return to CapU teaching UX and UI design as part of the Technology Intensive course for IDEA students. I teach real-world skills on building interactive design experiences, drawing from my professional practice in the field of product design and mentorship in the Game of Apps program.
