Bio

Natasha Mrkic-Subotic (EdD, Simon Fraser University, 2018) is an accomplished educational leader with over 25 years of combined local and international experience in marketing, strategic partnership development and post-secondary education.

Mrkic-Subotic's passion is developing relationships that promote applied learning and a student/community-focused changemaker culture to solve real problems. Key components of her work include educating and supporting post-secondary students, fostering intercultural engagement among faculty, staff, students, and community; supporting the work of decolonization, JEDI, and anti-racism; initiating and developing partnerships and opportunities for global engagement, bridging differences between cultures and worldviews.

Her desire is to disrupt the status quo, leading and supporting academic innovation and applied learning through entrepreneurial community/industry collaborations and global virtual exchange.

Mrkic-Subotic is a Board Director and Vice Chair for CityStudio, as well as Academic Scientific & Organizing Committee Member for Athens Institute of Education and Research, in Athens, Greece.

I encourage students to become changemakers, guiding each student through theory and supporting hands-on application, work integrated learning, and career development. Learning methods are diverse, but always meaningful and connected to real world examples.

Intentionally, my courses aim to connect learning to real business cases, city service learning and improvement, and community and global issues.

Research interests include academic innovation, academic capitalism, career development and WIL, internationalization, educational leadership, COIL Virtual Exchange, and globalization (and engagement) of post-secondary education.
