Bio
Mary Frymire is an award-winning director, showrunner, series producer and writer with solid experience in diverse genres including documentary, natural history, wildlife, culture, travel and narrative. Mary has directed and produced more than 400 hours of production more than 80 countries, working in four languages. Her work spans internationally focused wildlife, natural history, cultural and travel-driven documentaries and series.
Mary's priority is to bring a cinematic and profound sound sensibility, grounded in deep cultural experience, to storytelling. Her credits include: National Geographic, CBC, BBC, Arte France, Arte Germany, Channel 4, Smithsonian Discovery, Netflix, Prime and Apple TV.
Natural History, wildlife and travel documentaries and series include: Takaya, Lone Wolf, an award-winning documentary funded by CBC, BBC, ARTE France and Germany; For the love of Elephants, Polar Bear Town, Scam City, Echo Bay, Freediving; Into the Depths, Beluga Echoes, Saving the Wild Salmon, Word Travels, Animal Miracles and Animal X.
Mary specializes in immersive storytelling and high-end cinematic sequences, focusing on character-driven, factual and narrative projects. She draws on cross-cultural experiences when developing, directing, writing and producing engaging, visually evocative, profound sound projects that craft compelling stories.
She teaches and mentors film students in Canada, the U.S., U.K. and Europe. She immerses in international markets, including Cannes Documentaries, MIPCOM and IDFA, establishing connections for her films and opportunities for students.
Mary has won a myriad of international awards, including a Green Card for directing, and is represented by Integral Artists.
