Message to the CapU community from Laureen Styles, Interim President & Vice-Chancellor

Dear members of the CapU community,
It is an honour to serve as interim president during this period of transition as the search for the next president is underway. I want to take a moment to share a few reflections and to reaffirm my commitment to CapU, its people and its purpose.
With a sense of pride and purpose, I will continue to support the University's goals: delivering high-quality, accessible and innovative education; strengthening our actions in support of reconciliation; and deepening our connection to community and industry partners across the region and beyond.
I am also mindful of the broader forces at play—from political change, national policy reforms and inflationary pressures to the shifting global dynamics that continue to shape the landscape of post-secondary education in Canada and around the world. I know that many of you—whether based at our North Vancouver, Squamish, kálax-ay or CapU Lonsdale campuses—are navigating the broader realities of these uncertain times. Some of you are understandably concerned about the University’s current budget deficit and what it could mean for your studies or work.
In collaboration with the Board, Senate, executive and senior leadership teams, our collective decision-making will continue with a clear focus on what matters most—our students, our employees, our programs and the life-enhancing learning experiences that sets CapU apart. CapU remains committed to offering students a remarkable space to thrive, delivering high-quality, accessible and innovative programs and student support. In the months ahead, I look forward to engaging with all of you—students, employees and community partners—to continue to build on CapU’s strengths and to lead with integrity.
Thank you for your continued dedication and trust in Capilano University. Together, we will move forward with confidence and purpose.
Laureen Styles, EdD
Interim President & Vice-Chancellor
