August 9 - Partial campus closure

Update

3:00 p.m. - South half of main campus remains closed to complete water main repair work. The work is continuing at this time.  We will have another update on the CapU home page after 5:00 p.m. Follow CapU for updates posted here, on social media and via CapU Safe.

Buildings closed

On August 9, water must be turned off to all buildings in the south half of main campus in order to repair a water main that was unexpectedly damaged on August 3. 

There will be no access to water or washrooms in this area of campus during the repair work.

For the health and safety of the CapU community, the following buildings will be closed for the entire day (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.) on Tuesday, August 9:

Alder Building
Arbutus Building
Birch Building, including the Cafeteria and Tim Hortons, the Bookstore and the BlueShore at CapU
Cedar Building
Centre for Sports & Wellness
The Children’s Centre
Library Building, including the Registrar's Office, Learning Commons, IT Help Desk and Kéxwusm-áyakn Student Centre,

All other buildings north of the Library Building remain open with classes and operations on the north end of the Main Campus continuing as scheduled. This includes the Dogwood Building, Fir Building, Maple Building, Willow Building, Studio Art and Bosa Centre for Film & Animation.

Any food services and catering provided through the Birch Building is closed. The bus loop and all parking lots remain accessible.

Start and end date

Water turned off at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9 and we anticipate water will be turned back on by 11 p.m. the same day.

Depending on the extent of the repairs, this closure may extend to Wednesday, August 10. Updates will be provide at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9 on capilanou.ca, the CapU Safe App and through our social media channels.
