Dear CapU community,

In recent days, the world has watched as the Russian government escalates its invasion of Ukraine. We join the international community’s calls for de-escalation and an immediate resolution to the conflict. Our hearts are with all who are directly in harm’s way as a result, and we remain hopeful for the return of peace.

Joining other landmarks around the world, the exterior of Capilano University’s Birch Building is now lit up in support of Ukraine. The lighting sequence will illuminate the colours of the Ukrainian flag, transition to white to represent peace, then fade into the colours of CapU as we come together in support of the people of Ukraine who continue to light the way with their courage and determination.

As a community, we must continue to offer compassion and support for one another, including all of our students and employees who may be feeling the weight of these troubling times. Should you require support, someone to talk to or assistance for a family member who is struggling at this time, resources are available to CapU students and employees.

Together in this moment,

Paul Dangerfield
President
