Dear Capilano University Community,

Capilano University will return to its originally planned Spring term in-person learning and teaching schedule of classes and academic activities on January 31, 2022, as previously announced in December.

This decision aligns with current and evidence-based advice from the Provincial Health Officer and our University’s commitment to provide engaged and active learning opportunities for our students. With input from our University community, we are satisfied that the measures we have in place are appropriate to continue into the Spring term.

Since the beginning of January, we have been working to review our existing health and safety plans, building in flexibility as we continue to respond to COVID-19. This includes additional supports to address absences and resources to maintain academic and operational continuity for in-person learning, teaching and student services on our campuses and learning locations. Our priority remains the health, well-being and safety of the University community.

Getting vaccinated and arranging a booster shot, staying home if feeling unwell, washing your hands and wearing a mask remain the right things to do and will get us through this current phase. A continued thanks to everyone for your help in co-creating a safe and productive learning environment. Although our pandemic context continues to evolve, I hold hope that we will see a growing sense of revitalization and connection this Spring term.

Sincerely,

Laureen Styles, EdD
VP Academic & Provost
