North Vancouver, B.C. April 13, 2021 – With a new, more accessible livestream format for 2021, Capilano University invites the public to attend the Alumni Awards of Excellence at 7 p.m. on April 15th and meet the individuals behind the awards.

Mo Amir, host of the podcast This Is VANCOLOUR, will MC the event and introduce five individuals from the growing CapU alumni community recognized for their contributions locally and beyond.

Recipients of Capilano University’s 2021 Alumni Awards of Excellence

Unified Award                David Vertesi,  singer-songwriter and advocate for the arts
Luminous Award            Juvarya Veltkamp, leader in sustainable development
Enduring Awards            Orene Askew, DJ, speaker and Squamish Nation councillor
Confident Award            Michèle Ross, legal trailblazer supporting access to justice
Creative Award              Sean Aiken, inspirational author, speaker and filmmaker

“Our 2021 award recipients are individuals who lead by example, drive environmental change, serve their profession, produce creative art and inspire fresh thinking,” said Brittany Barnes, chair, Capilano University Alumni Association. “They exemplify how CapU graduates are creating impact today.”
