Tag(s): Media

Capilano University and Woodbridge Northwest began discussions in 2017 regarding the potential for a purpose-built, on-campus student housing facility located on an undeveloped .55-acre parcel of land bordering the west side of Greg Lee Way. The land parcel is adjacent to the 1900 block of townhouse units on Purcell Way previously purchased by Woodbridge for residential development. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by both parties in 2017 however, a final agreement has not been achieved to move forward on the project.

The University continues to explore the potential for a student housing development located at the north end of its main campus adjacent to Tantalus Road.

This 300+ bed project would be purpose-built in two phases and designed to include a number of room options including single and double-occupancy dormitory rooms, as well as one and two-bedroom suites. Shared and private washrooms, resident support spaces, a front desk, offices, dining, servery and laundry facilities would all be located in the layout. The first phase of the project would span an 18-month building schedule. The estimated $58 million project is contingent upon financing and funding sources are still to be determined.
