Bio

Jerome Valdez (B.Comm., University of British Columbia, 1995) is Head of Design at Cova, a company that creates retail management software. He is an accomplished user experience designer and product manager, first within digital agencies then in designing software products.

Valdez has brought his expertise to clients ranging from Nike, Nintendo, Sportchek, Lululemon, A&E Networks, BC Hydro, BC Lotteries, Telus and Electronic Arts. In addition to his information architecture, interaction design and usability experience, Jerome dabbles in visual design and front-end programming, bringing that holistic knowledge to the classroom.

Teaching interests

I love the field of User Experience (UX) Design because it is at the intersection of technology, business and cognitive psychology. It is endlessly fascinating to practice empathy with a wide range of people who have to deal with using ever-changing technologies. The work of a UX Designer is meant to improve people's daily lives. It's a rewarding purpose that gets me excited to teach these tools to the next generation of designers.
