Dennis Esson (M.Mus., University of British Columbia, 2003) is jazz studies educator with extensive professional performing experience as a trombonist, recording and performing in many different genres as well as having extensive experience directing large jazz ensembles. He is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Canada.

As a trombone teacher, I am a believer in mastering fundamentals and being a well-rounded and complete musician.

As a big band director, I am very aware of the technical and musical demands required of contemporary musicians, and address those needs through examining a wide array of repertoire and musical styles in class.
