Bio

Chandan Mishra (MBA, ICFAI University, 2012) is a seasoned hospitality professional with over 15 years of executive level experience with international hospitality luxury brands like Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Leela Palaces & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels & Resorts and private luxury clubs like Terminal City Club.

After graduation from the Oriental School of Hotel Management in Kerala, India, Mishra started his career with The Oberoi Rajvilas, where he learned and developed the foundations of hospitality by exploring In-Room Dining Operations & Restaurants.

He moved on to the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai in a leadership capacity where he learnt and practiced the service essentials required to serve the elite guests of the city and train the team to offer exceptional service. He then joined Leela Palace in New Delhi as a pre-opening team member and developed standard operating procedures for in-room dining operations and extended the support to restaurant & banquet management operations at the hotel.

In October 2012, Mishra landed in Toronto and continued following his a passion for the hospitality industry by joining the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver where he was part of the management team responsible for food & beverage operations.

Later, he joined the Marriott International in the banquet leadership capacity and led the team of over 100 associates generating more than $18 million annually. During this time, Mishra identified his passion in wines and pursued his WSET certification level 3 from the Wine School, Vancouver.

Currently, Mishra is preparing for the Court of Master Sommeliers and his PhD in Tannin Content in Italian White Wines. In his last assignment, he is currently working as Director of Dining & Hospitality with Terminal City Club in Vancouver.

Mishra is perfectly trained to being a teacher as during his time in hospitality, he worked as a part time instructor at Cornerstone College and Young Wales College teaching tourism and hospitality management courses. Currently, he is part of the Tourism & Recreation department team and hopes to share his experience in hospitality with students and empower them to unlock their true potential.

I love interacting with people and always wanted to find a platform that allows me to serve the knowledge and skills that the hospitality industry has blessed me with. I find a huge satisfaction in sharing my experience with students and students find it extremely intriguing to hear real life examples which I use as case studies during my classes.

I am passionate about food & beverage, however in the last 6 years, my keen interest in reading about the business side of the industry has really helped me evolve as a teacher.

Over the next few years, I want to learn from the best who are around me at the Capilano University and look out for every small opportunity to contribute in the Tourism & Recreation department.
