If you have accepted your admission offer from Capilano University and paid your deposit, but would like to defer your admissions to a future term, you can fill out the Request for Admission Deferral form below.

Deferrals are only applicable for direct admission into the first year of a full-time program and can be granted for up to 11 months from the start date outlined in your original Letter of Acceptance. If a deferral is granted, you cannot register or waitlist for courses until your requested deferral term.

Common causes for deferral requests include:

  • Delay in receiving a study permit;
  • Taking a gap year;
  • Required to do mandatory military service;
  • Joining a rotary/volunteer/exchange program;
  • Experiencing personal distressing/extenuating circumstances (e.g. physical or mental health afflictions; needing to care for an immediate family member); or
  • Experiencing extreme financial burdens.

Submitting this form is not a guarantee you will receive an admission deferral; however, we will be in touch with you after we receive your request to inform you of the decision.
