SQUAMISH, B.C., Feb. 19, 2026—Capilano University (CapU) and the Squamish Public Library have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) formalizing a longstanding collaboration and strengthening their shared commitment to accessible, community-focused learning across the Sea-to-Sky corridor.

The agreement outlines joint goals including expanding educational pathways for learners of all ages—especially Indigenous, racialized and other equity-seeking groups—celebrating Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation history, language and culture, and supporting community engagement through events and lifelong learning opportunities.

The MOU enables exploration of shared programming such as book clubs, writing workshops and youth initiatives, along with coordinated use of space, joint outreach, and collaboration on funding and marketing efforts.

“This MOU strengthens a long‑standing relationship between CapU and the Squamish Public Library and creates new opportunities for learners across the Sea-to-Sky,” said Brian Storey, associate vice-president, CapU Squamish. “By working together, we are expanding access to meaningful programming, celebrating local culture and knowledge, and supporting the diverse educational needs of our community.”

“We are excited to formalize our collaboration with CapU through this MOU,” said Hilary Bloom, director of library services, Squamish Public Library. “Our organizations share a deep commitment to literacy, curiosity and lifelong learning. This agreement broadens our offerings, connects more residents with CapU, and strengthens community engagement in ways that reflect the values of the Squamish community.”

The partnership enhances student access to public library services, including access to Squamish Public Library cards. With CapU expanding its presence in Squamish and the library growing its community-driven programming, this agreement will support increased access to learning, cultural enrichment and public engagement across the region.
