The International Student Check-in on May 21 is designed to help you feel confident, prepared and supported as you start your studies and life in Canada.

Location: Capilano University - Main Campus - Library Building, room LB160

International Student Check-in;

This session will walk you through the most important things to take care of in your first few weeks, including:

  • Applying for your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Registering for B.C. Medical Services Plan (MSP)
  • Understanding your tenant and worker rights in B.C.
  • Choosing a cell phone provider
  • Opening a bank account
  • Updating your CapU contact information
  • Getting your U-Pass
  • Connecting with Academic Advising, Immigration Advising, and your instructors
  • Other key reminders you won’t want to miss
  • Live Q&A - get clarity on anything you still have questions on after orientation and the first few weeks of classes.

This in-person session is highly recommended for all new international students and is a great opportunity to get clear, accurate information from the International Student Transition team, who are here to support you.

Registration is not required. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided, and attendees can also enter a raffle draw to win one of two $25 gift cards to the CapU Bookstore.
