The Positive Space Program at Capilano University is a campus-wide initiative intended to raise awareness, visibility and develop allies of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and two-spirit (LGBTQ2S+) community to create a more welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment on campus.

The Positive Space Program at Capilano University is a campus-wide initiative intended to raise awareness, visibility and develop allies of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and two-spirit (LGBTQ2S+) community to create a more welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment on campus.

Positive Space at Capilano University includes workshops open to CapU students and employees offered through the Student Affairs Office and supported by Human Resources and the Capilano University Students' Union.

To learn more about students can email studentaffairs@capilanou.ca to register and employees can sign up via the HR training calendar.

Workshop participants will receive a Positive Space sticker that they can choose to display as a way to create more positive spaces on campus.

Participants of the program will engage with:

  • Concepts of power, privilege, diversity and inclusion;
  • Concepts of gender, sex and sexuality;
  • Overview of the LGBTQ2S+ community including definitions, history and current issues; and
  • Ways to be an active ally.
