Remembering Ed Lavalle
Message from President Paul Dangerfield on the passing of Ed Lavalle
On behalf of Capilano University, I wish to extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of former Capilano University instructor Ed Lavalle on August 7, 2020.
A long-time member of the CapU community, Ed Lavalle came to the University in 1973 and spent 44 years enriching our students before his retirement in 2017. As an instructor in the Political Studies Department and the Continuing Studies Department’s Labour Studies program, he taught courses in International Relations, International Organizations, Regional Comparative Politics, Advanced Public International Law, Public International Law as well as Labour Studies.
A leader among his peers, Ed Lavalle also served as a Department Coordinator and as president of the Capilano University Faculty Association during his time at the University. He is remembered by others in British Columbia as active labour union supporter and for his role as former provincial secretary of the BC NDP party.
