      Capilano University entrance awards recognize excellence in scholastic, athletic, and artistic achievement, as well as demonstrated commitment to community involvement and leadership endeavours of future Capilano University students.

       To highlight our ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of changemaking, Capilano University has partnered with Free the Children to host We Day Vancouver; this year we are also offering Capilano University WE Schools Entrance Scholarships.

    • Capilano University WE Schools Entrance Scholarships *

      Capilano University WE Schools Entrance Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in academics and who were invited to participate in We Day as a result of their involvement in a We Schools educational program.

      Award Value: These scholarships are in the form of a domestic tuition fee and tuition surcharge fee waiver for a full academic year of studies and are renewable for up to three additional academic years (for a total of eight terms).

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 2

      Application Information: An application is required.  Completed applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered. 

      Please note that Capilano University WE Schools Entrance Scholarship applicants will also be considered for Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX); a separate application for CAPX is not required.


      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. Open to both domestic and international students;
      2. Demonstrated leadership skills;
      3. Community involvement;
      4. Preference for students invited to participate in We Day as a result of their involvement in the WE Schools educational program at high school;

    • Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX) *

      Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX) are Capilano University's premier entrance scholarships. CAPX are awarded to high school graduates who have demonstrated excellence in academics and have shown leadership in their school and community.

      Award Value: These scholarships are in the form of a domestic tuition fee and tuition surcharge fee waiver for a full academic year of studies and are renewable for up to three additional academic years (for a total of eight terms).

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 10

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Please note that Capilano University WE Schools Entrance Scholarship applicants will also be considered for Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX); a separate application for CAPX is not required.

      Anthony Kot Memorial Entrance Scholarship

      The Anthony Kot Memorial Entrance Scholarship was established by Tanja Kot in memory of her husband, Anthony (Tony) Kot, a Windsor Secondary School Graduate and football player who studies business at Capilano University.  This scholarship assists students entering Capilano University directly from Windsor who played on the Windsor football team or are entering a business program at Capilano University.  

      Award Value:  $1000.00

      Number of Awards Available: 1

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria:  

      1. Application to Capilano University directly from Windsor Secondary School;
      2. Students who played on the football team at Windsor Secondary School, or, in the event no eligible applicant meets this criterion, students entering a business program at Capilano University;
      3. Minimum entrance scholarship eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise stated above

      Canadian Daughters' League - Marjory and George Riste Entrance Awards

      The Canadian Daughters' League, Assembly 12, established the Canadian Daughters' League - Marjory and George Riste Entrance Award to provide entrance awards to a male and a female student enrolled at Capilano University.

      Award Value: $2,000 - $3,000

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 2.
      This award will be awarded to one male student and one female student per academic year.

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. Demonstrated financial need, as assessed by Financial Aid and Awards;
      2. Application to the first year of a full-time Associate of Arts or Associate of Sciences program at Capilano University;
      3. Demonstrated leadership and community involvement;
      4. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria, as established by Capilano University.

      Canadian Offshore School Entrance Awards *

      The Centre for International Experience (CIE) at Capilano University established this entrance award to recognize students from Canadian curriculum offshore schools and support them in their Capilano University studies.

      Award Value: $1,500

      Number of Awards Available: 1

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. International student, not represented by an agent, graduating from a Canadian curriculum offshore school;
      2. Application to a Capilano University program, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) and EAL pathway programs;
      3. Demonstrated leadership skills, community engagement and/or volunteer activities;
      4. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise stated above.

       

      Capilano Achievement Scholarships (CAPA) *

      Capilano Achievement Scholarships (CAPA) recognize academic achievement and are awarded to Capilano University applicants selected by specified secondary schools. Each year, the University will determine which schools are to be offered these scholarships; every public high school in Capilano University's official region will be included.

      Award Value: Up to $1,500
      These scholarships are in the form of a domestic tuition fee and tuition surcharge fee waiver for up to $1,500.

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 28 (one per each secondary school listed below)

      Application Information: Applications are not required.
      Nomination for these scholarships is by a committee of representatives from your secondary school. Secondary schools submit selected nominees to Capilano University for confirmation of eligibility; Financial Aid and Awards at Capilano University provides official notification to scholarship recipients.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. Open to both domestic and international students;
      2. Minimum entrance scholarship eligibility criteria, as established by Capilano University.

      Capilano Program Awards (CAPP) *

      Capilano Program Awards (CAPP) recognize specialized talents and qualifications required in individual program areas and are awarded to incoming, high-achieving learners entering a particular area of study.

      Award Value: Up to $1,500
      These scholarships are in the form of a domestic tuition fee and tuition surcharge fee waiver for up to $1,500.

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 24 (one per each program area listed below)

      Application Information: Check with your program area for further information.
      Nomination for these awards is by a committee of program faculty. Committees submit their selected nominees to Financial Aid and Awards for confirmation of eligibility; Financial Aid and Awards provides official notification of selection to award recipients.


      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. Program Faculty establish nomination criteria specific to their individual program areas. Applicant portfolios, individual interviews, essays, and reference letters are some of the tools faculty may use to select their CAPP nominee.

      Capilano University Entrance Awards

      The Capilano University Entrance Award fund was established to ensure students eligible to attend Capilano University are able to access the necessary financial assistance to do so.

      Award Value: $1,000 - $1,500

      Number of Awards Available: 1 - 2

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. Demonstrated financial need, as assessed by Financial Aid and Awards;
      2. Achieved a cumulative average of at least 75% in the high school graduating year, which must have completed no later than 18 months prior to the beginning of the academic year) at a Canadian school or CEGEP;
      3. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise stated above.

      Capilano University Graduate Program Entrance Awards *

      The Capilano University Graduate Program Entrance Award supports students admitted to a full-time graduate program at Capilano University, with a preference for studies in international management or business.

      Award Value: Up to $2,500

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 3

      Eligibility Criteria

      1. Application to a Capilano University graduate program with preference given to international management or business program applicants;
      2. Open to international applicants;
      3. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above.

       

      Capilano University Jazz Entrance Scholarships

      In 2002, this scholarship was named in honour of Barry Cogswell to recognize his contributions to Capilano’s Studio Arts program. In 2014, this scholarship was refocused on Capilano University’s jazz program with the goal of providing support to students in the University’s jazz programs.

      Award Value: Up to $1,000

      Number of Awards Available: 1

      1. Application to a jazz program at Capilano University;

      Enrolment Services Entrance Bursaries

      The employees of the Enrolment Services department of Capilano University established the Enrolment Services Bursary to support Capilano University students during their first term of studies.

      Award Value: Up to $1,000

      Number of Awards Available: 1

      Eligibility Criteria

      1. Enrolment in the first term at Capilano University (i.e. new student to Capilano)
      2. Demonstration of financial need as determined by Financial Aid and Awards

      Ernst, Helene and Walter Kienzl Entrance Awards

      This award was established in 2000 by Ron and Friedl Levitt in memory of Ernst, Helene and Walter Kienzl, who died in the Holocaust. The award was created to support students in their jazz studies.

      Award Value: Varies

      Number of Awards Available: Up to 2

      Eligibility Criteria

      1. Application to a full-time jazz program at Capilano University;
      2. Demonstrated achievement and recognition in jazz performance;
      3. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria, as established by Capilano University.

      Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Awards

      The Sixty Three Foundation established the Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Award to assist students entering a full-time undergraduate diploma or degree program at Capilano University. The objective of the award is to assist worthy candidates for whom the cost of pursuing a post-secondary education would be a serious impediment.

      Award Value: Up to $7,000
      These awards are in the form of a domestic tuition and tuition surcharge fee waiver of up to $3,500 in the first academic year, and are renewable for an additional academic year.  

      Number of Awards Available: 2

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria

      1. Application to a full-time diploma or undergraduate degree program at Capilano University;
      2. Demonstrated financial need, as assessed by Financial Aid and Awards;
      3. Have achieved a cumulative average of at least 75% in the recipient's graduating year (which must have terminated not later than 18 months prior to the beginning of the academic year) at a Canadian secondary school or CEGEP;
      4. Not have previously received a Fairfax award;
      5. Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above.

       
      Award Renewal Eligibility Criteria

      1. Continued demonstration of financial need;
      2. Intends to (and ultimately does) continue full-time in the undergraduate diploma or degree program initially commenced and has not yet earned a diploma or degree therein;
      3. Has passed and achieved an average of at least 3.00 in each previous academic year of the program;
      4. Was in full-time attendance in the program during the immediately preceding academic year;
      5. Minimum award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above.

       

      International Student Entrance Awards *

      The Centre for International Experience (CIE) at Capilano University established this entrance award to recognize international students and support them in their Capilano University studies.

      Award Value: $1,500

      Number of Awards Available: 1

      Application Information: An application is required.  Applications must be submitted by March 31 in order to be considered.

      Eligibility Criteria:

      1. International student who is not represented by an agent;
      2. Application to a Capilano University program, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) programs and EAL pathway programs;

      Jazz Studies Merit Entrance Scholarships

      The Jazz Studies Merit Scholarship was established in 1995 by the Capilano University Jazz Studies department.  Today, this award supports students who are entering studies in jazz at Capilano University.

      Award Value: Up to $2,400

      Maple Leaf Education Systems (MLES) Entrance Awards *

      The Centre for International Experience (CIE) at Capilano University created this entrance award to recognize students from Maple Leaf Education Systems (MLES) schools and support their Capilano University studies.

      Award Value: $1,500

      The Noreen and Phil Nimmons Award was established in 2006 by the Capilano University Jazz Studies department.  Today, this award supports students who are entering studies in jazz at Capilano University.

      Patsy & Crissy George Entrance Bursaries

      Patsy & Crissy George established this endowment to support female students of African descent who are pursuing an education at Capilano University.

      Scotiabank Entrance Awards for Business Studies

      The Scotiabank Entrance Award for Business Studies was established in 2009 by Scotiabank to support students with disabilities who are beginning their business studies at Capilano University.

      Award Value: Up to $4000.00

      Eligibility Criteria

      1. Application to business program at Capilano University;

      Universal Music Canada / Verve Entrance Scholarships

      The Universal Music Canada / Verve Entrance Scholarship was established in 2005 by Universal Music Canada to support entering students in their jazz studies.
