      Capilano University entrance awards recognize excellence in scholastic, athletic, and artistic achievement, as well as demonstrated commitment to community involvement and leadership endeavours of future Capilano University students.

      2017/2018 Premier Entrance Scholarships
    • Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX) *

      Capilano Excellence Scholarships (CAPX) are the premier entrance scholarships offered by Capilano University, and are awarded to high school graduates who demonstrate excellence in academics and show leadership in their school and community.   

      Award Value:These full ride scholarships support domestic tuition and tuition surcharges for one academic year (2 terms, and are renewable for up to three additional years (6 terms)
      Number of Awards Available:Up to 10 will be awarded

      Eligibility Criteria:1) Minimum high school GPA of 3.50 (80%), as calculated by Capilano University
      2) Demonstrated leadership skills
      3) Demonstrated community involvement

    • Anthony Kot Memorial Entrance Scholarship

      The Anthony Kot Memorial Entrance Scholarship was established by Tanja Kot in memory of her husband, Anthony (Tony) Kot, a Windsor Secondary School graduate and football player who studied business at Capilano University.  This scholarship assists students entering Capilano University directly from Windsor who played on the Windsor football team or are entering a business program at Capilano University.   
      Award Value:$1,000.00
      Number of Awards Available:1
      How to Apply:An online application and supporting documents are required
      Eligibility Criteria:1) Application to Capilano University directly from Windsor Secondary School
      2) Students who played on the football team at Windsor Secondary School, or, in the event no eligible applicant meets this criterion, students entering a business program at Capilano University
      3) Minimum entrance scholarship eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above

       

        Athletic Entrance Awards

        The Athletic Entrance Awards were established in 2000 by Jeri and Don Krogseth to support recruitment of outstanding athletes to Capilano University Blues intercollegiate varsity teams.
           
        Award Value:Up to $1,000.00

        Nominations will be completed by Athletics & Recreation.  Athletics & Recreation will submit nominees to Financial Aid and Awards for eligibility confirmation, and Financial Aid and Awards will provide official notification to award recipients
        Eligibility Criteria:1) A new playing member of a Capilano University Blues intercollegiate varsity team
        2) Open to international students
        3) Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above

         

        Canadian Daughters' League - Marjory and George Riste Entrance Award

        Established by the Canadian Daughters League, Assembly #12, in 2009 in honour of Marjory and George Riste, this award supports students who have demonstrated community engagement who are entering an arts or sciences program at Capilano University.
           
        Award Value:Up to $4,000.00 
        Number of Awards Available:Up to 4

          Canadian Offshore School Entrance Award *

          The Centre for International Experience (CIE) at Capilano University established this entrance award to recognize students from Canadian curriculum offshore schools and support them in their Capilano University studies.
             
          Award Value:Tuition and tuition surcharge waiver of up to $1,500.00 
          Number of Awards Available:

          Eligibility Criteria:1) International student, not represented by an agent, graduating from a Canadian curriculum offshore school
          2) Application to a Capilano University program, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) programs and EAL pathway programs
          3) Demonstrated leadership skills, community engagement and/or volunteer activities
          4) Minimum entrance award eligibility criteria as established by Capilano University, unless otherwise specified above 

           

          Capilano Achievement Scholarships (CAPA) *

          The Capilano Achievement Scholarships (CAPA) recognize academic achievement and are awarded to students selected by specified secondary schools.  Each year, the University will determine which schools are to be offered these scholarships; every public high school in Capilano University's official region will be included. 
             
          Award Value:Tuition and tuition surcharge waiver of up to $1,500.00 
          Number of Awards Available:One per high school identified in the list below
          How to Apply:Applications are not required. 

          Nominations will be completed by a committee of representatives from your high school.  High schools will submit nominees to Capilano University for confirmation of eligibility, and Capilano University will provide official notification to scholarship recipients

          Capilano Program Awards (CAPP) *

          Capilano Program Awards (CAPP) recognize specialized talents and qualifications required in individual program areas and are awarded to incoming, high-achieving learners entering a particular area of study.
             
          Award Value:Tuition and tuition surcharge waiver of up to $1,500.00

          Check with your program area for further information.  Nominations will be completed by a committee of faculty from your program area.  Program areas will submit nominees to Financial Aid and Awards for eligibility confirmation, and Financial Aid and Awards will provide official notification to award recipients  
          Eligibility Criteria:1) Program faculty establish nomination criteria specific to their individual program areas.  Applicant portfolios, individual interviews, essays, and reference letters are some of the tools faculty may use to select their CAPP nominee

          Capilano University Entrance Award

          The Capilano University Entrance Award was established to ensure students eligible to attend Capilano University are able to access the necessary financial assistance to do so.
             
          Award Value:$1,000.00

          2) Minimum high school graduation year GPA of 75%, as calculated by Capilano University
          3) Graduated from a Canadian high school or CEGEP no later than 18 months prior to the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year

            Capilano University Graduate Program Entrance Award *

            The Capilano University Graduate Program Entrance Award supports students admitted to a full-time graduate program at Capilano University, with a preference for studies in international management or business.
               
            Award Value:Up to $2,700.00

            Capilano University Jazz Entrance Scholarship

            In 2002, this scholarship was named in honour of Barry Cogswell to recognize his contributions to Capilano’s Studio Arts program. In 2014, this scholarship was refocused on Capilano University’s jazz program with the goal of providing support to students in the University’s jazz programs.

              Chartwell's Indigenous Entrance Award

              Chartwell’s Indigenous Entrance Award was established in 2015 by Chartwell’s to provide financial assistance to First Nations students who are beginning their studies at Capilano University, with a preference for students who are involved in their communities.  The inaugural disbursement of this award is anticipated in the 2017/2018 academic year.

              Ernst, Helene and Walter Kienzl Entrance Award

              This award was established in 2000 by Ron and Friedl Levitt in memory of Ernst, Helene and Walter Kienzl, who died in the Holocaust. The award was created to support students in their jazz studies.

                Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Award

                The Sixty Three Foundation established the Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited Entrance Award to assist students entering a full-time undergraduate diploma or degree program at Capilano University. The objective of the award is to assist worthy candidates for whom the cost of pursuing a post-secondary education would be a serious impediment.

                Award Value:Up to $7,000.00
                These awards are a tuition and tuition surcharge waiver of up to $3,500.00 in the first academic year, and are renewable for an additional $3,500.00 in the following academic year

                4) Not have previously received a Fairfax award;

                International Student Entrance Award *

                The Centre for International Experience (CIE) at Capilano University established this entrance award to recognize international students and support them in their Capilano University studies.
