    • Upcoming Highlights

A strong female presence wraps up February at the BlueShore at Cap. On Tuesday, February 21, the Arts Club’s cathartic comedy, Bittergirl: The Musical – which follows three Canadian women on a romantic rollercoaster ride set to ‘60s girl group doo-wop hits – takes the stage. Then, on Friday, February 24, Cap Jazz presents jazz pianist, composer and North Vancouver native Laila Biali.  The Montreal Gazette says Biali’s soaring soprano voice “makes the listener shudder it’s so rounded and pure.”

Come March, the winds blow in a miscellany of exciting performances, starting with the Cap Global Roots’ Friday March 3 presentation of the Villalobos Brothers – a unique celebration of the richness of Mexican folk music fused with jazz, classical and a dollop of social justice. Mid-month, from March 15-18 and 22-25, Cap Theatre Series presents Thoroughly Modern Millie, the delightful tale of a small-town girl’s adventures in 1922 New York City. March also brings extra TGIF joy to jazz lovers, with two Friday Cap Jazz performances – the return of the Ben Allison Quartet (at Western Front) on Friday March 10, and vanguard trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire here at the BlueShore at Cap on Friday March 31.
