Gillian Barber

Gillian Barber studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the UK and in the UVic BFA program. Gillian has been teaching at Capilano University for over ten years. She created the Musical Theatre program in 2007 and had a hand in forming the Acting for Stage and Screen program for the Theatre Department. She is a professional actor, director and choreographer, and brings a wealth of experience into the classroom. Directing credits include: Hello Dolly!,  Cinderella,  Footloose,  A Little Night Music,  The ThreepennyOpera, My Life with Albertine, HONK!,  Merrily We Roll Along,Jane Eyre,The Wiz, Nine,Children of Eden, and Into the Woods at CapilanoU; Jesus ChristSuperstar at TUTS; Rocky Horror Show (vocal director and choreographer) and MyFair Lady (assistant to the director) at the Arts Club Theatre. Film and Television Acting credits: Hamlet, The Vehicle, Farewell Atlantis, Hot Rod, Double Jeopardy, Jumanji; and recurring roles in X-Files, Da Vinci’s Inquest, Cold Squad, and Stargate.  Ms Barber has acted inover 50 plays and musicals across Canada including The Arts Club, Vancouver Playhouse, Alberta Theatre Projects, Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the National Arts Centre.
