In November 2008, with funding provided under the BC Hydro PowerSmart program, Capilano University hired its first Energy Manager. The Energy Manager program was designed to assist organizations in creating a baseline for consumption of electricity, natural gas and other utilities, establish targets for energy consumption reduction, and track progress against these targets.
Using Pulse Energy software as our EMIS (Energy Management Information Software), we can review and collect real-time electricity data which helps us to understand how energy is used over the course of the day. This data allows us to identify discrepancies from typical energy use and furthermore, optimize the building systems to maximize efficiency.
