From public transit to electric vehicle charging stations, sustainable transportation is a priority at Capilano University.

Public transportation

U-Pass BC gives CapU students access to bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services within Metro Vancouver, and to West Coast Express discounts. All eligible students pay for their U-Pass BC as part of their student fees and the pass can be loaded onto a Compass Card. Easy access to public transportation on CapU's campus helps reduce pollution and traffic congestion.

Green vehicle goals

We have several charging stations throughout the campus for electric vehicles (EVs). There are currently 12 public EV charging stations:

  • On the west side of the Nat and Flora Bosa Centre for Film and Animation (Parking Lot 3)
  • South of the Birch Building (west side of Parking Lot 1)
  • In the short term parking area near the Sportsplex (north-east corner of Parking Lot 7)

CapU has three EVs of its own. Other EV owners are welcome to commute to campus and charge up here. EVs reduce pollution, maintenance costs and reliance on fuels.

Carpooling cuts down on the number of vehicles arriving at the campus each day. It also frees up parking space. Consider carpooling with your fellow students or coworkers to save money and the environment. Groups of three or more employees and/or students currently enrolled or working at CapU may apply for free parking in carpool spots. Biking to campus

Bike to Work Week happens every spring to encourage a sustainable way to travel. Cycling promotes personal health, cuts down on transportation costs and is a fun way to get to school or the office.
