It is important to find a program that suits your interests, career goals and experience.
The programs are broken down based by their department. Each department offers a variety of volunteer, honorarium and student employee positions.

Recreation Ambassadors

Intramural Team

Career Development Ambassadors
As a Career Development Ambassador (CDA), you will be a representative of the Career Development Centre (CDC). CDAs will advocate and promote the CDC and student professional development. The CDAs primary role is to help with career development and employer relations initiatives through outreach to students, alumni, employers and campus organizations. Ambassadors will go through extensive training with and report directly to the CDC staff members.

Peer Language Mentors
Make new friends, build confidence & leadership skills, and engage with students from all over the world in the relaxed atmosphere of the English Chat Cafe.
As peer language mentors, you will organize and host online conversation groups, games, special holiday events and parties with non-native English speaking students at Capilano University.
Upon successful completion, students will receive Co-Curricular credit.

The Indigenous Mentorship Program is a peer mentorship program available to First Nations, Métis and Inuit students at Capilano University. Senior students are matched with new students aid in their transition to post-secondary life, succeed academically and persist until graduation.

Visual Storyteller Assistant
Duties of this position include photography and videography for advertising, print and digital communications that support University's initiatives internally and externally. This role is part of the University's creative team, and directly assists the visual media specialist by creating beautiful, thoughtful visual assets and stories that follow the University's brand and style guidelines.

Residence Advisor
Residence Advisors (RAs) live in the CapU Residence community and are responsible for fostering a safe and engaging living and learning environment for all students living in residence. Under the supervision of the residence life facilitator, residence advisors work as a team to support the needs of residence students through programming, community building, peer leading and emergency response. Residence advisors are a key part of the residence community.

Orientation Leader
The Orientation Leader (OL) position within Capilano University (CapU) provides a leadership and development opportunity for exemplary CapU students. OLs will interact with new students, assist with orientation operations, provide campus tours, answer questions and help create a welcoming experience. This position is composed of numerous training/leadership sessions and activities before and during orientation. Upon successful completion, students will receive Co-Curricular credit.

Starting for Success
As a Starting for Success Peer Leader, you will help Student Affairs staff and program faculty introduce incoming students to the opportunities, programs and services available at Capilano University. A Well-Being Ambassador is a leadership opportunity that provides support to other students by sharing their experiences and strategies for success. Student Life Hub Assistant
The Student Life Hub Assistants work at a desk on campus where students come to find out about events, workshops, job opportunities, and the co-curriuclar record. It is also a place where students can come to for support and find out about the different resources on campus. The Student Life Hub also puts on events, has a social media page, does campus outreach, and creates marketing material.

Earth Works Invasive Plant Pull
Students volunteer their time to contribute to restoration of the campus grounds. Students get hands on experience by pulling invasive plants and planting native species in their place.

Writing Centre Peer Tutors
A limited number of positions exist for strong English students with a minimum of six units of English to work as peer tutors in the Learning Commons. After training and shadowing an instructor, peer tutors will work more independently, helping students with writing assignments.
