Students who lack the prerequisites for direct entry into MATH 097, 101, 105, 108, 116 or 190 may choose to write the appropriate Mathematics Placement Test to gain admission into these courses.
Students wanting to enrol in an entry-level course listed in the table below must write a placement test if they do not satisfy the prerequisite requirements for the course as listed in the table below.
Students who completed their prerequisite course more than twelve months ago are encouraged to write the MPT to assess their current math skills.

for placement into MATH 108, 116
With the exception of the placement test for admission into MATH 097, students are not allowed to rewrite the same level of placement test within a twelve-month period. The waiting period to rewrite the placement test for entry into MATH 097 is one month or longer
MPT registration forms (pdf) and an MPT guide are available at the at the
Registrar's Office (BR230) in the Birch building and at the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) office (FR471) on the 4th floor of the Fir building. The MPT guide (shown below) provides sample problems and references to other study materials.
To write the MPT you must:
Note: You are not allowed to rewrite the Precalculus or the Calculus MPT for admission into courses within a one-year period.
