The Jazz Studies department features 21 practice rooms,
dedicated music classroom spaces for rehearsals, lectures and recording, and a
Mac computer lab with industry standard music notation and editing software.
The use of computer notation software and digital recording are integrated into
The Blueshore Centre for the Performing Arts seats 372 and
is used for student and professional performances. The Centre has been a venue
for the West Coast Music Awards and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
Over the last few years, student ensembles have shared the stage with top jazz
artists such as Ed Thigpen, Kristin Korb, Cedar Walton, Kenny Werner, Mike
Murley, Kevin Turcotte, Seamus Blake, Hugh Fraser, Bob Mintzer, Dave McMurdo,
Brad Turner, Phil Nimmons, Regina Carter, Fred Stride, Dee Daniels, Nnenna
Freelon and Kurt Elling among others.
