PRACTICUM Information

  • Early Childhood Care and Education programs include practicum courses which provide students with opportunities to work and learn with children and educators in licensed early childhood settings, Strong Start programs and other early years programs.

There are two practicum courses at the 200 level and one observing and recording course at the 100 level.  In addition, Diploma students have the choice of taking either an Infant Toddler practicum or an Inclusive Practice practicum.

Degree students are required to choose two practicum courses in addition to the 200 level ones: the Infant Toddler practicum, Inclusive Practice practicum or Advanced Practice practicum. The Advanced Practice practicum is a non-licensure post basic practicum that allows students to further their practice in areas such as curriculum, inclusive practice, administration, Atelierista work, Child Care Licensing, Resource and Referral Agencies or Supported Child Development.

If you are a current student looking for information on practicum, please access the ECCE Practicum Information Site on Moodle located under Department sites.
Please click here if your program is interested in becoming a participating practicum centre for hosting CAPU students.
