Disney International Program

Ever thought about working and studying at The Happiest Place on Earth?

The University of California, Riverside, in partnership with Capilano University, offers academic coursework as well as supervised paid training at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.

Who can participate?

This exciting program is open to CapU students who are studying in the Bachelor of Tourism Management, Tourism Management Coop Diploma and Bachelor of Business Administration.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be in good academic standing and no history of relevant academic or non-academic misconduct;
  • be 19 years old or older before departure; and
  • have completed 24 credits before you begin your placement.

What's included in the program?

The program includes four required components:

  1. an intensive two-week course delivered at the University of California, Riverside;
  2. a course delivered through the Walt Disney World Resort which students select from a range of eight options;
  3. a course delivered online by the University of California, Riverside, during the training at the Walt Disney World Resort; and
  4. credit transfers toward your CapU diploma or degree in Tourism Management.

Step 1: Capilano University Application for Exchange

Complete the Capilano University Exchange Application (pdf) and submit to the Centre for International Experience by December 1, 2019.

Step 2: Complete a CapU interview

All applicants are interviewed by a CapU selection committee. If you are successful, we will send you a letter of offer by email. In order to accept your offer, you must submit:

  1. Signed Letter of Offer;
  2. Study Abroad Fee (approximately $375); and
  3. Disney Application Package, which we will provide you with at your interview.

Step 3: Complete a Disney interview

You will be invited for a 20-minute interview conducted by Disney and a UCR representative in early February 2020. This is also your opportunity to ask more questions about the program.

Prior to the Disney interview, you will have to prepare and bring to the interview:

  1. The Disney Online Application. You will be emailed and invited to complete the application, so please navigate the pages appropriately;
  2. The Role Checklist; and
  3. A copy of the ID page in your passport.

Step 4: Receive an acceptance from Disney

If you are a successful candidate, you will be notified via email. Please note that acceptance by CapU to the exchange program is only the first step in this process and, as such, does not guarantee your acceptance by UCR to the Disney International Program.

Summer Programs

Our short-term programs are 10 days to five weeks long. These programs are great if you cannot take a whole semester off but would still like to gain firsthand experience and understanding of the unique culture and context of another country.
