Bio

Sue Hogan (B.Comm., University of Toronto, 1981) is a CA, CPA with over 30 years of teaching experience. She articled with Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhousecoopers) in Toronto and then worked in progressive management positions for several years before commencing her teaching career at Centennial College in Scarborough, Ontario.

Hogan and her family moved to BC almost 20 years ago. She has been teaching at Capilano University in the Faculty of Business and Professional Studies and in the Faculty of Global and Community Studies for most of that time.

Hogan has been a convener in both faculties, has been involved with a number of University committees and has been a University Senator.

Accounting is my profession, and I love teaching. I remember being in university myself and struggling with some of the accounting and finance concepts. I try to break down the concepts for students, to make the material practical and applied, so that students "get it."

My teaching philosophy is "teach as I would like to be taught." For accounting, that means providing examples and doing problems, and combining theory with practice. Financial literacy is imperative and extremely practical.
