The course surveys poetry traditions and practices across different times and cultures with particular attention to the emergence of new forms and theories of poetry. A specific section of the course may select a particular time period and place, e.g. medieval poetry in England, France, and Japan. 45 credits of 100-level or higher coursework including 6 credits of 100 or 200-level ENGL
